3 Miracles of Yoga and Meditation
For those of you still considering the advantages of yoga and meditation, let me share with you the incredible results I have experienced since sticking to a yoga and meditation regime of 3 times for 40 minutes each week. 1. Digestion - Acid Reflux. I realize I am not alone in experiencing the painful effects of poor digestion, sometimes termed acid reflux. I used to keep Tums and Rolaids antacids in business popping 6-8 just to get through a typical night. This was my reality ever since I can remember - even as a teennager. In fact, this condition ran in my family - so I was resigned to never finding a treatment, let alone a cure. I am amazed to say that...

Active Meditation For Surges In Energy Levels!
When I first started learning about deep breathing exercises and meditation I had this pre-conceived notion of sitting very still for long periods of time, my body like a statue, my breathing hardly discernable to an onlooker. Little did I know that this was not the only way to achieve a meditative experience. In my discussions with people they often deem meditation an activity for ‘hippies’ from a bygone era that is for those people who are essentially away with the fairies! However, this could not be further from the truth! You see meditation comes in all forms and guises. Yes, sometimes it does consist of silent, still, contemplation. Nothing wrong with that at all. What I also...

Is Meditation for You?

Author:
Carrie Beisel

What Is Meditation?
There are various types of meditation - such as TM (Transcendental Meditation), mindfulness meditation, and from the Eastern tradition, Zen meditation and Buddhist meditation.
Meditation uses such diverse methods as:
Formal sitting in which the body is held immobile and the attention controlled. Expressive practices , in which the body is let free and anything can happen. e.g., Siddha Yoga.
The practice of "Intentional Living" meditation is doing all you do mindfully and without stress. Being in the moment and enjoying the process of "doing"!
Meditation will enable one to focus on quieting the busy mind. The intention is not to remove stimulation but rather to direct your concentration to one healing element - one sound, one word, one image, or one's breath. When the mind is filled with the feeling of calm and peace, it cannot help but slow down, yet have a sense of calm and relaxation.
According to Joan Borysenko, Ph.D., a pioneer in the field of mind/body medicine, meditation can be broadly defined as any activity that keeps the attention pleasantly anchored in the present moment. When the mind is calm and focused in the present, it is neither reacting to memories from the past nor being preoccupied with plans for the future, two major sources of chronic stress known to impact health. "Meditation," says Dr. Borysenko, "helps to keep us from identifying with the 'movies of the mind."
Meditation is life changing. You will be able to quiet your mind before sleeping, relieve intense stress, reduce chronic stress, free yourself from worry, keep calm during stressful times and relax whenever you want.

7 Minutes Meditation for Busy Folks
The greatest asset you have as a business person is your mindset while your most expensive commodity is time. Seven minutes meditation gives you the best of both worlds. With a little practice in a little time, you come up with problem-solving ideas with amazing ease. Your friends will think that you're a genius. And you will really feel good about yourself and your accomplishments. This is because meditation puts you in the alpha state of mind that enhance creativity, blasts tension, and indecision. You know what to do on every occasion because you’ve learned to think on autopilot. What is meditation? Meditation is a process of mental exercise that primes the brain and centers the heart to cultivate productive ideas. This encourages whole brain thinking that put you in the zone of peak performance. You must be in the know to be in the flow. Therefore knowledge of how the brain works is crucial. How does it work? It works when you work it into your consciousness. There are different segments of the brain which tend to work independently of one another. Each part may even antagonise another. The four cardinal parts of the brain are the left (intellectual) brain, the right (intuitive brain), the mid-brain (emotions) and the hind-brain (reticular activating system). When all the parts of the brain work together, you are focused and obstacles are eliminated. If not, disarray, failure, and tension are the norm for 95% of the population. Meditation fixes these problems by helping you develop complex and more efficient neuronal connections that encourages whole brain thinking—the way most geniuses and top achievers think. Joshua 1:8 says that with meditation, you shall be able to deal wisely with the affairs of this life. That sounds like genius to me! Seven minute per...
